Red Horse Gallery

An Art Gallery on The Big River dedicated to Art of, by and for The People!

Holley Schmidlapp Work coming to the Red Horse for August

In this ever-changing world in which we live in, the Red Horse Gallery announces an alteration to earlier plans with August now bringing us the pleasant surprise of an exhibition of work by Holley Schmidlapp. Holley lives in Winona, and when she isn’t working at Winona Feed, Seed, & More, she creates abstract paintings, the highly textured surfaces of which present lovely and affecting color combinations.

She writes, “Abstract art captures the emotion of how we feel, rather than what we see. I employ a fluid scraping motion, almost an excavation of paint, as I rapidly move from surface to surface.  I enjoy the process of art making which spurs us to think, thus challenging us — providing us with a new sense of awareness and imagination.”

We hope you can attend a reception for the artist on Saturday, August 7, from 7 to 9 in the evening. Along with refreshments and, of course, the artist and the art, you will find conviviality emanating from the usual suspects and, we expect, some new accomplices in the Gallery’s project to present art of, by, and for the people along the Big River.

The Gallery is open on Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 4pm, and by appointment. For appointments, call the proprietor: 507-450-6162.

Here is a sample of what you will see at the Red Horse in August.
